Luce Foundation Travel Grants
We are happy to announce that a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation enables us to offer ten (10) grants of up to $500 each to Ph.D. students wishing to attend the 2017 meeting.
These grants may be used to defray the costs of travel, accommodations, registration fees, and/or incidentals for students traveling to Ann Arbor. Students wishing to be considered for a travel grant should submit an email with: (1) a one-page summary of their research interests and experience and (2) a current CV.
Grantees will be chosen based on their scholarly promise as Southeast Asianists as well as attendance at the previous SEAREG meetings. Applications for Luce Foundation travel grants are due no later than April 1, 2017. Decisions will be announced soon thereafter.
SEAREG Pre-Dissertation Fellowship
Applications for the inaugural SEAREG Pre-Dissertation Fellowship are now closed. We appreciate the strong interest in this opportunity and look forward to the second year of the Fellowship. Applications and further information will be available in early 2017.
The Fellowship consists of an award of up to $6,000, made possible by a generous grant from the Henry Luce Foundation. This will assist social science Ph.D. students engaged in exploratory research who must travel to Southeast Asia in order to obtain the advanced contextual knowledge needed for a high-quality dissertation proposal and a competitive application for external funding. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the fields of political science, economics, and sociology.
Graduate students in good academic standing who have completed their first or second year of a social science Ph.D. program in the U.S. or Canada, regardless of personal nationality or citizenship, but who have not yet advanced to candidacy with a completed dissertation proposal are eligible to apply for this fellowship.
