Public Intellectuals Workshop

Supporting its mission to advance social science scholarship centered on Southeast Asia, SEAREG is coordinating its third public intellectuals training workshop from October 25-27, 2018 at Duke University in Durham, N.C. This training will equip scholars with effective tools for reaching beyond the ivory tower, enabling them to communicate with a voice that resonates with a variety of audiences.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Henry Luce Foundation, four (4) travel grants of up to $400 are available to help offset the cost of travel to and accommodation near Duke University.

To apply for the training, complete the form below and email Renate Kwon two paragraphs (max) that introduce you to the public and a 500-word (max) op-ed piece or blog post that you feel could convey your scholarship to readers outside the academy. Be sure to indicate whether you wish to be considered for the travel grant.

Registration will be capped at 8 participants to allow for in-depth interaction during the workshop. Materials from the program will be made available to all SEAREG members upon request.
